Marcus' summer move to spark a transfer frenzy from rebuilding Red Devils
MANCHESTER UNITED are preparing to make a splash in the summer transfer window.
Interim boss Michael Carrick’s in pole position to be permanently appointed after a brilliant start to his tenure, and he’s admitted he will be involved in transfer conversations leading up to the window.
The Red Devils have key elements of the squad to bolster ahead of next season.
They plan to strengthen their midfield and left-wing positions and those areas will be prioritised this summer, but there will be some high-profile departures too, to raise cash so support the wage bill.
United are looking to replace Brazilian Casemiro, who will leave after his deal ends, and want a high-quality operator to succeed him.
Last summer, they weighed up a move for Brighton's Carlos Baleba, while Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton have also been tracked. Newcastle star Sandro Tonali is another who United have been following closely.
Baleba’s form has dropped off a cliff since United showed an interest in signing him though. Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler admitted a few months ago that reports linking him with a move to Old Trafford had negatively impacted his performances.
