EVIL Ian Huntley died yesterday - nine days after he was brutally beaten in jail.

Doctors turned off the Soham child murderer's ventilator after deciding there was no hope he would awake from a coma.

It is thought Huntley's mother Lynda Richards, 71, was at his bedside.

The Ministry of Justice confirmed he died at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary yesterday morning.

His only daughter, Samantha Bryan, 27, had said "there's a special place in hell waiting for him" after the incident.

The 52-year-old was taken to hospital after being found in a pool of blood on February 26.
