And nine out of 10 telly fans reckon the Peckham pair's antics are "timeless", according to the survey of 2,035 UK adults aged 25 or older.

Despite running to only 12 episodes, Fawlty Towers, with John Cleese as Torquay hotelier Basil, is the nation's second favourite show, with 66% saying they love the 1970s hit.
