Bruno chasing 'happy tears' after Wembley woes in 2023

BRUNO GUIMARAES broke down in tears of despair on the Wembley pitch two years ago when Man United smashed Newcastle's Carabao Cup dream.

And the Brazilian admits his water-works will be on overtime again this weekend when the Magpies face Liverpool.

But he's praying it will be for very different reasons once the final whistle blows this time around.

"I want tears of happiness," said the Newcastle captain.

"Everyone knows how emotional I am.

"I always try to leave everything that I have on the pitch and to play as a fan because I know what it means to them.

"I remember those moments from last time and always said, 'Next time, it will be a good day.' We just want to make thousands and thousands of Geordies very happy.

"And my message to them is stay positive because we will do our very best to bring this trophy back to the city."
