-20C SNOW CHAOS HITS

BRITAIN’S white-mare will continue today with a foot of snow and punishing near -20C lows.

Last night was due to be chillier than a -18C household freezer, verging on the coldest January night for 16 years.

That could make it colder than Ny-Alesund - 750 miles from the North Pole on Norway's Arctic island Svalbard, famous for polar bears.

And today may see up to four inches of snow at low levels and a foot on hills in the North, with soakings in the South.
