Edinburgh on the brink after Finn and Co dish out a doing

- BY STUART BATHGATE

EDINBURGH'S Champions Cup hopes are hanging by a thread after they were blown away by Finn Russell's Bath in their final pool game last night.

The capital club would have finished top of Pool 2 if they had won at the Recreation Ground.

And even if they had only got two bonus points in defeat - one for four or more tries and the other for a narrow defeat - that would have been enough to guarantee them a place in the last 16 of the competition.

But they came nowhere close as the English champs proved far too powerful.

Head coach Sean Everitt said: “They were hot tonight and made us pay for every mistake. We fought gallantly in the first half but allowed them too many entries and we couldn't keep them out.

"Disappointed with the score but the boys did fight. There's always positives you can take."
