Townsend tells nine-try Scots to up their game for Aussies

GREGOR TOWNSEND reckons Scotland will have to up their game if they are going to beat Australia even though they ran in nine tries in an easy win over Portugal on Saturday.

There were seven different try-scorers for the home side at Murrayfield as they made it two wins out of three so far in the Autumn Nations Series after a victory over Fiji then a loss to South Africa.

But while the attack was firing on all cylinders, other parts of the game did not go so well specially up front, where Scotland struggled in the scrum and the lineout.

Head coach Townsend believes the defeat by the world champions has actually been his team's best performance of the three games.

And he wants his players to get back to that level on Sunday when they take on the Wallabies, who were playing Wales yesterday after beating England a week earlier.
