After low-key reaction, Tannadice ace Sibbald says: I wasn't going to celebrate goal against my team

- FRASER MACKIE AT FALKIRK STADIUM

CRAIG SIBBALD snubbed the celebrations after scoring a superb goal against Falkirk.

But the ex-Bairns favourite would rather be the toast of Tannadice than a local hero by the middle of April.

Sibbs stays just a free-kick away from Falkirk Stadium. He starred for seven seasons with his hometown club.

And he's in awe of the way his beloved Bairns bagged two promotions then mounted their brilliant bid for a top-half finish.

Yet Sibbald sickened them with a sweet strike to help inspire a comeback win for Dundee United.

And his business brain is firmly in gear for a late charge aimed at reeling in John McGlynn's men.

It’s a distant hope but Jim Goodwin wasn't for giving up after watching United snare their first points of 2026.

Win two games in hand against off-form pair Aberdeen and St Mirren and they'll be within five points of Falkirk.

Of the muted reaction to his 55th-minute leveller, Sibbald said: “I wasn't going to celebrate against what is my team. I have so many good memories of my time here, it's my hometown team.

“I grew up supporting them and live just round the corner, so it'd be weird to celebrate against them.

“It’s been good to see them do so well this season. They've been brilliant for the last couple of years now, they’re used to winning games.
