Ruth Jones stars as a detective on a mission in Harlan Coben's latest thriller

It's been a year since we said goodbye to Ruth Jones's Nessa Jenkins in the Gavin And Stacey finale and now the comedian is back on our screen in a very different role.

Ruth stars in thriller Run Away, Netflix's latest Harlan Coben adaptation, as private investigator Elena who crosses paths with the father of a missing girl, played by James Nesbitt.

The role brought a welcome change from Nessa's distinctive style for the 59-year-old star. "I just love variety," she says. "I love the fact that casting directors and producers have the imagination to go, 'She doesn't just do a slightly goth, tattooed, leather skirt-wearing Barry girl who works in an arcade. She can do something else.' When you're presented with that challenge, you want to rise to it."
