RORY MCILROY says Oakmont calls for Augusta “amnesia” - as he does his utmost to forget the 81 blows inflicted in practice.

The Northern Irishman tees up in the US Open tomorrow, his first Major appearance since slipping into the Green Jacket, knowing he has to “get his stuff together” to shake off his Masters hangover.

The world No.2 fulfilled an 11-year quest to join the career Grand Slam club but his form has suffered in the two months since.

He tied for 47th at the US PGA last month and missed the cut at the Canadian Open last week after a horrid 78 on day two in Ontario.

However, that was not the worst score of his week as the 2011 US Open champion got a taster of the feared Oakmont track. He said: “Last Monday felt impossible. I birdied the last two holes for 81.
