Now he’s embarking on a getting-to-know-you crash course with the boys in front of him to stop Kilmarnock suffering a similar drop fate.

The ex-Aberdeen keeper, 33, returned to Scottish football last month, brought in on loan from League Two Notts County after Max Stryjek had heart surgery in November.

The Dutchman has had little time to catch his breath, with Killie off to Tannadice today three points inside the relegation playoff having played one more game than 10th-placed St Mirren.

And Roos – part of a Derby side who dropped out of the Championship in 2022 despite a huge effort after being hit with a 21-point deduction – is leaving nothing to chance.
