Relationship matters for your pension

MANY people don’t think they'll ever be able to stop work, research for Scottish Widows has revealed.

Saving enough money for retirement can feel like climbing a mountain - but for single people it can be a particularly uphill struggle, and nearly one in five don't think they'll be able to afford to retire.

A study by the pension giant also found 13 per cent of married or cohabiting people don’t think they'll have enough money put aside to retire.

Two-fifths (42 per cent) of people who are married or living with a partner feel optimistic about retirement, compared with just three in 10 future retirees who are single.
