Derby's tricky to call with both sets of fans on the brink of revolt after Euro debacles

IT’S hard to remember a time when fans on both sides of the Glasgow divide were in such a foul mood heading into a derby dust-up.

Since the poisonous effects of global capitalism turned the Scottish title race into a two-horse race at the end of the 1980s, when one fanbase has a smile on their face it usually leaves the other with a scowl and vice-versa.

You probably have to go back to Mo Johnston's infamous jumping of the dyke in 1989 to find a time when hardcore fans of both Celtic and Rangers were united in rage.

So it would be fitting if Gers trotted the bold Mojo out to make the halftime draw at Ibrox tomorrow as the old rivals lock horns for the first time this season.

But such an outcome is as unlikely as Russell Martin popping into the Louden Tavern for a vegan breakfast on Monday morning if Rangers crash to yet another demoralising defeat.

Tuesday's 6-0 mauling by Club Brugge saw Martin hit a new nadir and plenty of punters wanted him sacked on the spot.
