Pitch perchfect

I'VE become an inadvertent perch angler on quite a few trips recently - perch on the fly, perch on the feeder, it seems they're drawn to me so I think I'll move my autumn specimen angling forward.

Richard Walker said, “A big perch is the biggest fish of all” and I can see his point.

You catch a lot of little ones then when you do catch a perch - weighing over two pounds with flared angry fins, bold stripes and so deep - they can look unreal to some.

When they’e held out and presented well by a proper perch angler youd think they were photoshopped.

But there are some huge perch specimens in Scottish lochs.

Perch fishing comes into it’s own in the autumn as other species slow down and these greedy little predators hijack shoaling baitfish.
