26 per cent of young Scots deaths are from probable suicide.. it's time for action, Jordan's mum backs Record campaign to end epidemic of kids taking their lives

- BY GEMMA RYDER

A MUM has told of her "daily nightmare" after losing her teenage son to suicide.

Jordan Hart took his own life in 2020 at the age of just 16.

His mum, Susan, 54, has bravely opened up on her ordeal to support a Daily Record campaign calling on the Scottish Government to take action to tackle an epidemic of youth suicide.

Susan said: "Jordan took his life a few days before he turned 17.

"He had just started college. He could have had a future full of possibility. He dreamt of joining the RAF and becoming a personal trainer, but we will never get to see him achieve any of it.

"Every morning I think I've woken up in a nightmare, but it is my reality and the pain in my heart will never go away.

"Young people who die by suicide have to be more than just a statistic. I am backing the Record's Save Young Lives campaign to drive the change we need. Suicide is a silent killer and we need to help young people and those around them get the tools they need when they're struggling."

Susan, of Rattray in Perthshire, has been volunteering at schools in her community to provide free mental health training.
