Martin may have headed for Austria with little bit of breathing space he needed... but first half here had him searching for an inhaler

IT'S only five years since Rangers had a manager who made them Invincible.

Now they've got one who is seemingly Unsackable.

Yes Rangers did make a game of it in Austria in the second half - but only after gifting Sturm Graz two goals in the first 35 minutes that left the Ibrox side in all kinds of trouble.

Yet, no matter how many defeats Russell Martin heaps upon this team, neither he nor the guys who appointed him look as if they are going be oxtered down the marble staircase and thrown onto Edmiston Drive anytime soon.

Martin could have done with Rangers fans adopting the Celtic support's silent approach to protest from the away support.

But these two rarely agree on anything, so the under-fire Ibrox boss knew hed be getting both barrels from the 1000 travelling Bears, even if they are growling at the moon with the hierarchy continuing to back their man.

Back-to-back wins domestically against Hibs and Livingston might have given Martin the breathing space he desperately needed heading into Austria but the first half last night had him searching for an inhaler.

And although he will speak about the fight and resilience shown in the second half last night, this was yet another performance where some good stuff was completely undone by pathetic defending.

They gifted goals to a Sturm Graz side that are nowhere near the quality of some of the teams Gers have faced in recent years a 2-1 victory.

The defeat leaves Rangers pointless after two games. As pointless as the appointment of this manager in the first place.
