Scots star good enough to show 'best player' talk was no idle boast says Stu

- BY STUART KETTLEWELL BY MICHAEL BAILLIE

relished hearing Lennon Miller talk about becoming Scotland's best player.

That's because he knows the teenager possesses the talent to fulfil such an ambition.

Kilmarnock boss Kettlewell worked closely with Miller at Motherwell, handing him the captain's armband and playing a part in his development prior to a summer move to Udinese worth just shy of £5million to the Steelmen.

Kettlewell knows Miller's suggestion when he was called up to the Scotland squad for the first time for the Nations League playoff doubleheader with Greece was taken out of context by some.

But he loved hearing the humble youngster display such confidence in his own ability.

While Kettlewell would wind up Miller he was getting carried away with himself, he revealed hed have to remind the unassuming 19-year-old just how good he is.

And he knows Miller, who is in Steve Clarke's squad for tomorrow's opener in World Cup qualifying away to Denmark and Monday's clash with Belarus, has all the attributes to act on his words.

Kettlewell said: “I've never heard that from him before and it was probably taken out of context.
