Nine clubs in as many years but Askou insists he's in for long haul at Fir Park

JENS BERTHEL ASKOU has been something of a coaching nomad but is determined to put down long-term roots at Motherwell.

The Dane might only be 42 but is already on to the ninth club of his managerial career.

It has taken him from assistant at Skive and Thisted before he moved into management in his own right with Vendsyssel, HB Torshavn, Horsens and IFK Gothenburg and then returning to being a No.2 at Sparta Prague and Copenhagen.

The journey continued when the Motherwell board decided to give Askou the chance to become his own man again at Fir Park this summer.

Speaking about his coaching career the new Well boss said: "I was in Horsens for two-and-a-half years. I signed a four-year deal in Gothenburg and I had no plans of going anywhere.

"We were trying to rebuild the club from risking relegation.

"We stayed up by scoring to make it 2-1 in the 96th minute to get us out of relegation.
