There will come a point when we will get back to where we need to be.. but why hasn't it been good enough? I don't have the answer

- BY SCOTT MCDERMOTT

HIS heart is telling him Rangers will eventually get back to being the best team in Scotland.

But right now, in Nico Raskin’s head, it is difficult to work out just how they do it.

After all, when the Belgian looks at the Premiership table and sees them sitting fourth, 12 points behind leaders Hearts, he knows they are miles off where they should be.

And he’s finding it hard to explain why.

After 17 games in the league, Rangers are even looking at Motherwell above them.

They have the same number of wins as the Steelmen but have scored two fewer goals having played one fewer game.

A 2-1 defeat in Gorgie was a pivotal moment in the Ibrox side's campaign and a crushing blow to any potential flag bid.

Danny Rohl suffered his first league loss in his two months in charge, with Hearts and Celtic widening the gap between themselves and Rangers.

When Raskin turned up in Glasgow in 2023, he expected to win trophies and fight for titles.

That has not materialised and the 24-year-old admits it’s been tough to take.

back. He said: “There will come a point when we will get back to where we need to be. It's just some tough times right now.

“Why hasn't it been good enough? I don't know, I don’t really have an answer. We are trying our best as a team, you can see we are running hard.

"But in the big games we've maybe had a couple of minutes, like against Hearts.
