LAWRENCE SHANKLAND looked into his World Cup crystal ball and told his wife his role as a Scotland hero was in the bag.

The Hearts striker came off the bench at Hampden to prod home against Denmark in a night of miracles as Steve Clarke's side booked a spot at the finals next summer.

While his goal was eclipsed by the three stunners scored by Scott McTominay, Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean on Tuesday, it meant the world to the Jambos captain.

Shankland revealed he made a pre-match prediction to his better half Nicole and it played out just as hed foretold.

He said: “I had a good feeling about the game all week, I'd said to my wife, I had a feeling I was going to score.

“I just felt it was written in the stars for us, so to play a part in that is massive.
