Mel's Braveheart battle prop up for bids

A WAR hammer used by Mel Gibson as William Wallace in Braveheart is being auctioned.

Fans of the Oscar-winning movie are being given the chance to snap up the prop, which the 13th-century Scottish freedom fighter used to take down his enemies.

Wallace wielded the weapon, which has a long carved wooden shaft and a metallic head, when he fought against the English during the Battle of Stirling in the 1995 film.
