GEORGE RUSSELL delivered on his preseason tag as title favourite with a dominant Melbourne victory - before claiming moaning Lando Norris only hates F1's new cars because “he's not winning”.

Defending champion Norris has been among the most vocal critics of the 2026 motors, dubbing them “probably the worst” ever.

But Russell, who comfortably won the Australian Grand Prix from pole - before singing over the radio, “I like these cars, I like these engines” suggested his fellow Brit's complaints are nothing more than sour grapes.

He said: “If Lando was winning, I don’t think he'd be saying the same.

“Everyone is always looking to themselves and we're all selfish in this regard.

“The truth is last year we had the same engine as them, McLaren did a better job than us and they beat us.
