Families to press ministers on 1994 Chinook crash questions

THE son of a serviceman killed in the 1994 Mull of Kintyre Chinook crash says victims' families expect answers when they meet ministers tomorrow.

All 29 military and intelligence personnel on board RAF Chinook ZD576 were killed when the helicopter crashed in fog while flying from RAF Aldergrove in Northern Ireland to Fort George, near Inverness, on June 2.

Andy Tobias was eight when his father, Lt Col John Tobias, died in the crash, which also bereaved his brother Matt and mother Gaynor.

He said: "We want full transparency, full candour. We expect nothing less from our meeting with ministers. We have been forced to fight for the truth for 31 years. Now we expect answers."
