Mobsters nicked in Dubai swoop

AN EX-POLICE chief has called for Dubai-based millionaire gangsters to be refused legal aid when they return to face justice in Scotland.

Graeme Pearson, the former head of the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency, made the plea after the arrests of five underworld figures including crime boss Ross McGill in a swoop by police in Dubai.

The Record understands that McGill, 31, Lyons family boss Steven Lyons, 44, and drugs hood Stephen "Jimmy" Jamieson, 42, are among those nicked on Tuesday morning in a crackdown on serious and organised crime in the desert state.

Lyons clan associate Steven Larwood and a Rangers ultra pal of McGill are believed to be the other thugs picked up in the dramatic raid.
