CROSSBOW COP ATTACKER JAILED FOR FOUR YEARS

Murder bid sparked by drug-induced psychosis

A PARANOID drug user who attacked armed police with a crossbow has been jailed for four years.

Michael Ley, 35, fired five or six bolts from the weapon as officers took cover behind a vehicle after they had been called to his home by a worried community nurse.

Ley admitted assaulting the officers to the danger of life and attempting to murder them on March 14 this year.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard Ley was assessed in 2009 with a drug-induced psychosis or drug-induced depressive psychosis.
