Cases down by half in week bút NHS chiefs warn of New Year rise

FLU cases are set to spike in the new year despite falling by half last week, health chiefs have warned.

Public Health Scotland figures show in the week ending December 28, there were 751 recorded incidences of the flu virus, down 43 per cent from 1317 cases in the week ending December 21.

Hospitals admitted 445 people for treatment in the most recent week, a decrease from 716 in the week to December 21.

However, revellers have been warned New Year celebrations could lead to an increase.
