Brace for impact as Idowu hits his straps

ROLAND IDOWU is ready to hit new heights with St Mirren after learning the hard way during a roller-coaster loan spell.

The Irish winger was red-hot in the second half of the Buddies’ pre-season rout of Dumbarton, scoring two in Saturday's 4-0 win sandwiched between headers from Mikael Mandron and James Scott.

The 23-year-old has a habit of flying out the traps - he struck twice against Morton last July and scored on his Premiership debut in a 3-0 win over Hibs.

But this time, Idowu's determined to keep the standards high all season.
