Nicholson and Co get it in the neck again from fans as Hoops players do their best to get club smiling with cup stroll

IT was a pretty straightforward day for Celtic on the pitch but another uncomfortable one for the directors off it.

Brendan Rodgers's men cruised past Partick Thistle to book their spot in the Premier Sports Cup semis in a four-goal Sunday stroll.

But Hoops fans showed there's still not much appetite to kiss and make up with the Parkhead chiefs following the summer of discontent.

Angry punters pitched up for the kick-off this week - but came armed with anti-board banners aimed at Peter Lawwell, Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay.

Some of the frowns were turned upside down by the end - thanks to some of the players Celts did manage to sign.

Deadline day arrival Sebastian Tounekti stole the show again after roasting the Jags all afternoon and scoring his first goal for the club.

The Tunisian was involved in the first couple of goals, linking up with Benjamin Nygren for the Swede to tee up Yang Hyun-jun for the 26th minute opener.

A short comer involving the same pair saw Liam Scales glance home the second just moments later.

Mark Wilson's Thistle battled away but the gulf in class was clear with Tounekti linking up with Kelechi Iheanacho for the third before sub Luke McCowan raced through and buried a fourth.

It was a dominant display with Iheanacho's link up play catching the eye - along with Kieran Tierney coming through his first 90 minutes of the season.
