Charles & PM condemn atrocity and pay tribute to victims & responders | Australian leader says anti-Semitic attack struck 'the heart of our nation'.

AN ACT OF EVIL

THE King led worldwide condemnation of yesterday's attack on Bondi Beach.

Charles was joined by Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other global leaders.

And Australian PM Anthony Albanese said the shooting was an act of terrorism.

He said: "This is a targeted attack on Jewish Australians on the first day of Hanukkah. It should be a day of joy, a celebration of faith.

"An act of evil anti-Semitism, terrorism, has struck the heart of our nation.

"An attack on Jewish Australians is an attack on every Australian. And every Australian tonight will be, like me, devastated on this attack on our way of life.

He added: "There are nights that tear at the nation's soul. In this moment of darkness, we must be each other's light."

King Charles said: "My wife and I are appalled and saddened by the most dreadful anti-Semitic terrorist attack on Jewish people attending the Chanukah celebration at Bondi Beach.

"Our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected so dreadfully, including police officers who were injured while protecting members of their community."

He praised heroic emergency services, police and members of the public for preventing what could have been an even greater tragedy.
