1000 homeless refugees seek help in Glasgow

HUNDREDS of refugees based in big cities around the UK have declared themselves homeless in Glasgow, fuelling calls for an urgent review of housing rules.

The city has received 1050 homelessness applications in the last year from refugees from outside the city, including hundreds from London, Belfast, Liverpool and Manchester.

SNP council leader Susan Aitken has blamed the UK Home Office for a botched refugee dispersal programme, while Labour MP Joani Reid has attacked the Scottish Government for failing to tackle the country's housing emergency.
