MICHAEL Carrick says Manchester United are prepared to fill gaps in their schedule in "different ways" as the club discusses whether to push ahead with mid-season friendlies.

The Red Devils' first season without European football since 2014/15 was compounded by falling at the first hurdle of both domestic cup competitions, leaving them with their fewest number of games in 111 years.
