'UEFA has to act to stop games being taken abroad'

September 11, 2025

Daily Post

A FANS' chief has called on UEFA to “play its role as regulator of the game” and block plans for LaLiga and Serie A matches being played abroad when its executive committee meets today.

UEFA could give approval to the plans when the ExCo meet in Tirana, with football's world governing body FIFA then having the final say.

LaLiga is seeking to stage the December fixture between Villarreal and Barcelona in Miami, while Serie A wants the AC Milan v Como match to be played in Australia in February.

Sources have indicated that the American and Australian federations have given their approval to host the matches, but neither association has confirmed this.
