The safest and worst areas for crime in N.Wales

A MAP complied from government data has revealed the areas in North Wales most blighted by crime - and those where violence and robberies are less common.

Anglesey emerged as the safest and Denbighshire the worst.The county with the highest rates of serious crime was Newport in South Wales, followed by Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen. Overall, however, the country scored better than England, with high levels of criminality in London and other large cities.

Despite areas of high deprivation on Denbighshire’s coast, the county's crime scoring was only marginally above the average for England and Wales. Neighbouring Flintshire was adjudged the region’s second safest.

The “Crime severity” scorings were put together by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
