Scores of drivers fined as wardens kept busy

SCORES of drivers were fined for illegally parking on mountain roads that in Arctic conditions were transformed into ice rinks.

Traffic wardens were kept busy on the roads of Eryri (Snowdonia) - and especially on the A4086 Pen-y-Pass on the flanks of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).

TikTok videos showed a line of around 30 ticketed vehicles in Nant Peris above the road’s park-and-ride facility - others having already left. More drivers were reportedly fined near Bethesda and the Ogwen Valley.

Other TikToks also showed cars struggling for grip on the icy Pen y Pass. In one heart-in-the-mouth moment, a Nissan was filmed sliding backwards down the pass, its driver frantically running after it.
