Dog attack left 8-year-old victim needing operation for 'shark-bite’ wound on leg

A mum has blasted a court sentence after her young daughter was brutally attacked by a dog, leaving her with a serious leg injury that needed operations.

The terrifying attack happened at Beibio playing park, Holyhead, on August 24 last year.

On Monday this week (January 18), Bethan Farr, 51, of Peibio Close, Holyhead, appeared before Caernarfon Magistrates Court where she received a 12 month sentence, suspended for 12 months, after admitting being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control, which caused injury.

She was also ordered to pay £500 compensation and must carry out rehabilitation activity requirements.

The dog, which the mum said was a “pocket bully’ was also ordered to be destroyed.

The mother of the girl, who was eight at the time of the attack and is under a reporting restriction not to be named, branded the sentence “frustrating” and feels the justice system has “let them down’
