Plans for'blot on landscape' solar power farm rejected

PLANS to build a solar farm described as a “blot on the landscape” and “environmental vandalism” on agricultural land in a Gwynedd beauty spot have been rejected.
“Significant numbers” of objections had been received by Cyngor Gwynedd against the renewable energy scheme proposed for land at Lon Pin, Llanbedrog.
Cyngor Gwynedd’s planning committee unanimously refused the application. The project would have seen the installation of solar panels (PV) to create a 4.99MW solar farm, with associated developments on two fields.
‘The plans also included the installation of vehicular access and tracks, fencing, landscaping, two transformer stations to gather and distribute electricity produced, and underground cables.
