MOYES HAS THE LAST LAUGH AS MCNEIL SETS UP WINNER

Abdoulaye Doucoure’s stoppage-time goal sent the travelling fanbase into ecstasy as the Blues clinched a third away win since David Moyes’ return.

It was a result that highlighted how Moyes is keeping the spark alive in a team he has rescued from a relegation fight.

And here are some moments from behind the scenes at the City Ground....

Moyes makes media laugh

The Everton manager cut a delighted figure on the pitch when, on the final whistle, he walked over to the Blues in the stands and celebrated with his players.

Moyes has ignited this squad in recent months and this was another high point.

It came after second-half substitute Dwight McNeil stole the ball from Murillo and fed match-winner Doucoure.

On McNeil’s role in the goal, Moyes prompted laughter in the press box with his light-hearted take on a big moment for the midfielder after months out injured.

Of McNeil’s contribution, he joked: “I was right behind the pass and actually I think he didn’t make a particularly good one, but I think the centre-half got his feet mixed up or he would have cleared it.

“But, nevertheless, I’m sure Dwight is taking an assist for him.”
