Joey Barton alleged to have assaulted ex-N.Wales football boss

A MAN named as the victim in an alleged assault over which Joey Barton has been charged is a former North Wales football manager.

Ex-footballer Barton, 43, and a second man, 50-year-old Gary O'Grady, have been charged with section 18 wounding with intent following an alleged serious assault near the Huyton and Prescot Golf Club, Merseyside, on Sunday.
Merseyside Police said on Tuesday the victim of the incident had been taken to hospital for assessment of serious head and body injuries, and remained in a serious but stable condition.
