Horror as sheep are driven into river by out-of-control dog

A DISTRAUGHT farming couple were yesterday scouring the Anglesey countryside after a horror attack on their sheep.

Several sheep were trapped in the river and had to be hauled out. They survived the night but remain in critical condition

A dog, believed to have been a cocker spaniel, drove several sheep into a fast-flowing river as darkness fell.

One drowned and another is still missing. Three more were plucked from the water in "critical condition" and owners Michael and Ann Coyne, of Llwyn Odyn farm, are unsure if they will survive.

The traumatic attack happened near the cycle path at Cors Ddyga some time between 4pm-5pm on Monday, December 29.

A witness contacted the police and even considered plunging into Afon Cefni to retrieve the distressed sheep.

"Thankfully, he didn’t," said Anne. "The river is far too dangerous. We've not been able to retrieve the drowned sheep ourselves, as it’s drifting with the current.
