Hopes of Cunha arrival hinge on sales in summer

MANCHESTER United's hopes of signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves seem dependent on the Red Devils selling several players this summer.

Hopes of Cunha arrival hinge on sales in summer

Cunha reputedly has a £62.5million release clause in the contract extension he signed earlier this year and his club want that fee paid in full to sanction a sale.

United, therefore, would have to raise such sums through outgoing transfers.

Permanently parting with players currently away from the club on loan would be one way to do that.

There are options to do so in the deals that saw Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Tyrell Malacia depart.

Chelsea are obligated to sign the former for £25m or pay United a £5m penalty fee.

And PSV could also make the latter their player for £8.6m.

Rashford, though, has the most sizeable fee, set at £40m when joining Aston Villa.
