Christmas tree's climber agrees to pay for damage

A CHRISTMAS tree climber who damaged the evergreen in an historic town centre has come forward.

Last weekend saw damage done to the festive tree on St Peter's Square in Ruthin.

It was the third time it has happened when it has been located by the town clock in recent years. There were previous incidents in 2022 and 2023 while last Christmas it was in a different location due to work on the clock.

On this occasion a number of branches were broken and the top of the tree was damaged. The lights were also pulled down.
