Flights back on schedule at OR Tambo after storm delays

NORMAL operations resumed at O.R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) yesterday following flight delays and diversions caused by severe weather on Sunday, the Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) has confirmed.

DESPITE the festive season nearing its end, that didn't stop some holidaymakers from checking out Durban and the city's various tourist attractions.

ATNS said air traffic services were operating as scheduled yesterday morning, after thunderstorms disrupted safe aircraft movements in Johannesburg's airspace the previous day.

“ATNS confirms that air traffic operations at O.R. Tambo International Airport are normal this morning (Monday), with services continuing as planned. However, the nature of aviation is such that operations remain subject to constant monitoring and evaluation,” said ATNS Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Mphilo Dlamini.
