Teen returns to ward to greet his nurse after life-changing gene therapy

- BY ELLA PICKOVER

Thank you

A BOY who was one of the first children to be given a £1.65million treatment has returned to hospital to thank his nurse.

Adam Rehman, 13, from Oldham, was given a one-time gene editing therapy to cure the blood disorder thalassaemia after having monthly blood transfusions since he was a baby, and no stem cell match could be found for him.

Adam, who is now back at school, returned to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital to see specialist nurse, Clair Baron.
