Son of crown princess denies 4 rape charges

Norwegian Hoiby is denied bail

THE son of Norway's Crown Princess has pleaded not guilty to rape charges as he appeared in court on trial for multiple offences.

Marius Borg Hoiby, 29, is facing 38 charges, including rape, sexual assault and bodily harm. New counts were added on Sunday when he was arrested for alleged assault, threats with a knife and violation of a restraining order.

Hoiby is the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship and is stepson of the heir to the throne, Crown Prince Haakon.

He has no royal title or official duties.
