Family's grief at death of Poppy, 10, in freak crash

THE devastated family of a 10-year-old killed by a car which careened on to a football pitch said she had yearned to join Manchester United.

Poppy Atkinson died on Wednesday after being hit by a black electric BMWi4 which smashed through a fence and dropped 4-5ft to where she was training.

In a moving tribute, Poppy's family yesterday said she was “small, petite, beautiful” and football obsessed.

They added: “Poppy was the focal point of our lives, everything for us revolved around Poppy's love for football.
