This half term, turn your garden into a haven of Halloween fun with easy makes and a bit of craft.

CARVE A PUMPKIN

Choose a pumpkin with a flat base to ensure it sits steady. Slice off the lid, scoop out the flesh for a delicious soup later, and then sketch your design.

Carve carefully, then pop a battery tealight inside for a warm glow.

APPLE BOBBING OR THE STRING CHALLENGE

Choose firm apples - fallen ones are fine if they're not bruised or mushy. A clean trug or washing-up bowl works well on the patio.
