Royal spongers had no shame

With a degree of reluctance, I accept that there is a responsibility to provide Andrew with accommodation, providing he is paying the market rate for the property, as thousands of people are having to do up and down the country.

But Sarah Ferguson is a different matter. She is divorced from Andrew, and there is no reason why the British taxpayer should provide her with housing.

She has two daughters, married to fairly wealthy men, so let them put her up. If King Charles agrees to provide two homes for them, he will further damage the standing of the royal family in the eyes of the public.

Harry Wright, Letchworth Garden City, Herts

This couple have no shame. Andrew has resisted leaving Royal Lodge for a long time and now as pressure mounts and King Charles has stepped in, he demands two houses. After all the scandal and the endless media coverage, you would think he would do the decent thing and lay low. He must have known asking for a new home for Sarah Ferguson would not sit well with the public.

Ray Meads, Darlington
