POST OFFICE EXTENDS SCANDAL FIRM'S DEAL

THE Post Office has confirmed it has extended a deal to use the scandal-hit Horizon IT software until 2027, as first revealed by the Daily Mirror.

The accounting system, run by Japanese firm Fujitsu, is at the heart of the long-running Post Office scandal, which led to around 1,000 innocent people being wrongly prosecuted throughout the UK between 1999 and 2015.

The defective software made it appear money was missing at branches run by sub-postmasters.
