THE family of the Minneapolis man shot dead by Ice have slammed Donald Trump's government and called on it stop lying about him.

Intensive care nurse Alex Pretti's parents, Michael and Susan, lashed out after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claimed agents fired defensive shots after he reacted violently.

The Prettis said: "The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting.

"Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump's murdering and cowardly Ice thugs.

"He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman Ice just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.

"Please get the truth out about our son, he was a good man.

"Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact." The 37-year-old was shot 10 times in five seconds by officers from Ice on Saturday as he protested against their presence in the city, where they gunned down the unarmed Renee Good less than three weeks prior.

Reports claim that an unnamed witness performed CPR on Mr Pretti, who had at least three bullet wounds in his back and possible others on his upper chest and neck.

The witness, who is a doctor, explains they found him on his side, which "is not standard practice when a victim has been shot".
