Captain Lizzie Godwin made history as the first woman to serve in the Household Cavalry and was part of the Life Guards, our most senior regiment.

She played key roles in the Queen's funeral as well as the ceremony on May 6, 2023, to mark her succession by King Charles. Friends said she was driving home when her car was in a fatal collision with another vehicle.

SALUTE

Capt Godwin won the Sword of Honour at Sandhurst, the elite military academy attended by Princes William and Harry, an accolade awarded to the best pupil of each intake.
